Seeking Musicians and Contact Update

Short version: ALL musicians on the site will have the ability to add an optional contact form on their profile so that all other logged in members can contact them. That’s been the case since the launch but now ALL musicians will be able to post to the seeking area for free as well.

Long version:

For as long as I can remember, music has been an extremely important part of my life. My family played live music whenever we got together and to this day, these are memories I cherish. When musical instruments weren’t being played, music recordings blared through speakers almost constantly.

I learned to fall asleep with music and I would lie in bed and listen for hours at a time. Music took me on many journeys in my mind and I’ve only found that I love it more and more as time goes by. No matter how much music I listen to, I know that it will never be enough.

Two of my uncles played music around town and I was in awe whenever I saw them perform. Eventually I picked up a guitar of my own and this led me on a completely different musical journey. Writing lyrics and singing (badly for quite some time) became an outlet, and that led to harmonica, and piano. I’ve written many songs and have had an interesting adventure with live shows, studio sessions, and the business in general. While I mostly play and sing for myself by choice these days, I love seeing the passion of music in others.

I’ve had the opportunity to help a lot of people and I’ve made a good living from music in various forms. I’ve worked with musicians for a long time and I’ve been hearing the same complaints for a long time. A lot of musicians in Arizona aren’t sure where to look for other people and it’s been hard for them to connect with each other. I’ve wanted to do something about that for several years and now I’m doing my best to make that happen.

The purpose of AZ Musicians is to provide a great resource for musicians and music related businesses in a state I’ve grown to love and I want to help. Truly help. That’s why I’ve decided to make the contact and seeking section completely free. No strings attached. No BS. Just 100% free to any musican who signs up and can be respectful of others.

I’d love to see the project succeed but I firmly believe that if you put people first, profit often follows. That’s been my experience and I just don’t have it in me to do otherwise. Hell, my first “real” job at 16 was in a bad and manipulative feeling telemarketing gig and I walked after an hour. I knew then that I had to do things in life that were honest and real.

The site will continue to improve for everyone and I’m going to do everything in my power to make that happen. A new feature will be coming soon as well and you’ll be able to upload some songs. PRO will get the better end of that deal but free musicans will still be able to upload some as well.

Enough babbling. Go edit those profiles to let others know you’re looking to play some music.

Vinyl time for me.
